Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you register for and use Zangout, we collect the following personal information:

  • Account Data: Email address, encrypted password, username, full name, date of birth (strictly 18+), gender, and optional phone number verified via OTP for plan participation.
  • Profile Data: Avatar picture, header background image, bio (up to 150 characters), headline, interests, and social media links.
  • User Content: Posts, polls, comments, reactions, and plan details (location, date/time, media, visibility settings, and guest lists).
  • Saved Addresses: Private location labels, text addresses, and coordinates saved for easy plan creation (stored privately and editable anytime).
  • Verification Information: Student ID details (deleted immediately upon review) and Government ID / live selfie face embeddings for identity verification.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following specific purposes:

  • Service Operation: Enabling account creation, profile display, plan creation, map discovery, and direct/group messaging.
  • Safety & Verification: Verifying age (18+), mobile numbers for meetup safety, and identity verification via AWS Rekognition facial comparison.
  • Communication & Support: Sending service notifications, updates, and responding to support queries.
  • Security & Abuse Prevention: Detecting fraud, spam, automated bots, and community guideline violations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. We share information only under strict conditions:

  • Public Community Profile: Your display name, username, bio, avatar, and public plans are visible to other users.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud Providers: Supabase (database & auth), Amazon Web Services (AWS Rekognition for facial comparison and S3 storage), and telephony OTP providers.
  • Payment Processors: Stripe, Razorpay, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store for subscription and transaction processing.
  • Legal & Regulatory Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.

4. Data Storage, Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), along with strict PostgreSQL Row-Level Security (RLS) policies.

Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, personal data is permanently deleted from active databases within 30 days.

5. Your Rights & Choices

You have full control over your personal data on Zangout:

  • Access & Update: Review and modify your profile, interests, and saved addresses in Profile Settings.
  • Privacy Controls: Control who can see your Bonding connections and posts (Everyone, Stars Only, or Mutual Bondings).
  • Account Deletion: Delete your account and associated data directly through Settings > Account Security > Delete Account.

6. Children's Privacy (Strictly 18+)

Zangout is strictly intended for individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18. Any account discovered to belong to a minor is terminated immediately.
